1. Jonny and Joey Maxx defeated Quiet Storm and Chris Divine
A hot opener featuring great tag team wrestling, and Quiet Storm playing a good heel with his mouth on the side of his face as he was jawing it to the fans. Good match which saw The Maxx Brothers pick up the win.
Post match saw Nana and Mega do a run-in and kick the crap out of the Maxxs. Maxxs would be unable to participate in the tag team title match, which they earned the right to, by winning this match. Life goes on.
2. Xero and Thunder beat Mozart Fontaine and Tyler Payne in a No DQ match
Memory is a little fuzzy on this one, I think Thunder pinned Payne. Match was more focused on the announcer vs manager feud going on at ringside. If my memory is fuzzy on it that means nothing really stuck out about it for me.
3. For The ECWA Mid-Atlantic Title, The Japanese Pool Boy defeated Mr. Ooh La La, in an Evening gown match:
Dud. I’m not a fan of men getting stripped to their skivvies, and this match was just a waste. I guess you can’t stack a show leading into the of the Indies coming up, next month.
4. Ace Darling announced the members of the Super 8 tournament. In no particular order here they are:
Brian Kendrick
Alex Arion
Chance Beckett
Paul London
Chris Sabin
Johnny Jeter
Chris Cage
Sedrick Strong
London and Spanky were announced last, which left us going huh, after the first 6 were announced. Most of those guys are OVW guys, and seeing Jim Kettners major announcement later on, I can see why. I’m really looking forward to seeing London wrestle live again, as he’s one of my favorite wrestlers to watch today.
5. After numerous vignettes, Trinity defeated Carlton HighTower in an arm wrestling match. Dud. Trinity is hot.
5. ECWA Tag Team Championship Elimination Match: Da Hit Squad vs Nana/Mega vs Darling/Stryker vs champions SAT
Da Hit Squad were eliminated first, which was weird to me as a fan, seeing them dominate everywhere else. Next out were the champs, which also was surprising, because you usually don’t see the champs lose until the end, in these sort of matches. Finish saw Cheetah Master hitting Nana with a chair, allowing Stryker to get the 1-2-3, and crown new ECWA Tag champions. I wasn’t too into this match as it was more of a cluster then anything. Seemed a little too-off-the-cuff and wasn’t one of the better tag matches that I’ve seen out of these 8 guys.
6. Boogie Woogie Brown won a Six Man Prince of Darkness Battle Royal over Xero, Thunder, Tyler Payne, Mozart Fontaine, and Mr. Ooh La La. All six men had hoods on ala Jake the Snake and Rick Martel WresleMania VII. Crap. Cool post match was BWB doing a dance with the local Delaware kids, making lot of kids happy.
7. Cheetah Master beat Xavier in a Loser-Leaves-ECWA. Great back and forth match. Good, solid wrestling. Xavier took the loss here, but got an ovation from the crowd for his solid work.
Post match saw Ace Darling laying out Cheetah Master! I sniff a feud brewing here. 8. Inferno and Rivera defeated Rob Eckos and Billy Bax in a Fuzzy-Dice-On-A-Pole match. Good wrestling when there was wrestling, but the match focused on outside shenanigans as Carlton/Trinity/some girl who wasn’t announced all interfered. Inferno got the dice and a post-match pole beat down for his efforts. Luckily, there was a towel on hand as he limped to the back.
9. Jim Kettner announced the WWE’s return to Delaware. Major pops! I couldn’t believe it; I guess I’m spoiled with the WWE by living in NY and having shows run here every 6 weeks. Can this explain the OVW/ECWA relationship?
10. MAIN EVENT
Low-Ki’ vs Kruel vs Chris Daniels in a 30 minute Iron man match for the ECWA World Championship
A really good match between these 3. Kruel obviously was the odd man out in this match as Low-Ki’ and Daniels were super crisp. Kruel hung in there, and after getting bloodied up 5 minutes into the match, he went the full limit and put on a decent show. The finish saw Daniels and Kruel with 2 falls, and Low Ki with one, even though Kruel tapped at the bell. We went to SUDDEN DEATH overtime with Daniels and Kruel, and Daniels beat Kruel via the Last Rites. Good crowd reaction.
